Harper Charity Cruise Sponsorship Opportunities

For more than 2 decades, the Shorewood Kiwanis Harper Charity Cruise continues to be a premier summer event in the City of St. Clair Shores. The following are 2019 sponsorship opportunities. Our car cruise is the only 100% charity driven car cruise in Michigan and without the generosity of our sponsors, Shorewood is hard-pressed to produce an event of ever-increasing size and popularity.

All sponsors regardless of size receive a framed certificate of appreciation for display in your place of business, showing your support of this fun-filled, amazing community service effort. Additionally, every cruise sponsor receives complimentary Official Harper Charity Cruise T-shirts, quantity commensurate with the level of contribution.

FAQ’S REGARDING THE SHOREWOOD KIWANIS HARPER CHARITY CRUISE

What is Shorewood Kiwanis?
The Kiwanis Club of Shorewood is a chapter of Division 1, Michigan District of Kiwanis International a global service organization. Shorewood has been improving the world, one child and one community at a time since 1959. Our many community service projects include the Special Needs Children’s’ Day at the Ice Show, Christmas in August [a back to school clothes shopping trip], 3rd Grade Dictionary Project [distribution of a special book to every 3rd Grade Student in SCS], Special Needs Fishing Derby and Pond Fishing events and more!

Numerous donations to the Michigan Foundation that support children’s’ hospitals all over the state. Our own Shorewood Foundation awards more than $8000.00 in scholarships and other educational programs for SCS students. 100 percent of the proceeds are donated right back to the community that we serve.

How does the cruise “work”?
Any classic car driver is welcome along the route, with no registration fees, no official prizes, no judging, just a lot of fun! The Shorewood Kiwanis Harper Charity Cruise is the only 100 percent charity driven classic cruise in the state of Michigan. After expenses, and donations to our Charity Partners, 100 percent of the proceeds are donated directly back into the community.

What is a Charity Partner?
Shorewood’s Charity Partners are charitable organizations who assist us with t-shirt sales and collection of donations the day of the cruise, up and down Harper Avenue. Their stations are marked with organization name. Charity Partners have included Wigs 4 Kids, CARE of Southeastern Michigan, Tree of Hope Foundation and the Macomb Chamber Music Society. These organizations receive the profit of their shirt sales and all the donations collected in their canisters.

So how is this event funded and produced?
Again, no one involved with the event draws a salary or commission. It is the generous donations of the local business community, predominately those on Harper Avenue, via the many sponsorship options available for participation. There are rewards and “perks” for sponsoring organizations such as logo placement on the official cruise shirt, special signage, Internet presence, and some complimentary cruise t-shirts. Perks and shirts are always commensurate with the level of sponsorship. Without Harper Charity Cruise sponsors, and their involvement with one of the largest and most popular fundraisers in St. Clair Shores, we would be hard-pressed to produce this ever-growing in popularity and expense, event. Your sponsorships cover our pre-cruise expenses such as police protection, printing, signs and of course the production of the Official Shorewood Kiwanis Harper Cruise T-Shirt.

What are the benefits of sponsoring this event?
1.) Market and promote your business through community service. The Shorewood Kiwanis Harper Charity Cruise is one of the City of SCS’s premier summer, family-fun events. 2.) Examine the Annual Sponsor Participation Form Carefully to determine which level suits your needs. Perks, coverage, support, and acknowledgment are commensurate with your level of donation. 3) The attendees of this event are your patrons!

Can I have a party during the cruise?
Of course! Historically there are two types of parties allowed on the cruise route.

  • OPEN PARTY: An open party is OPEN to the public, and all attendees are welcome. Open parties receive a sign from Shorewood to help welcome the public in. And OPEN parties are also Shorewood Kiwanis T-Shirt and donation sales locations. Another draw for the public to visit your place of business. Keep your sponsorship advisor informed if you are holding an OPEN party and we’ll help advertise it on Facebook and in the HCC FB Event Page.
  • PRIVATE PARTY: Some businesses hold private parties for invited guests only. It’s up to you to mark off the area and provide adequate signage to indicate the private nature of your party. Shorewood Kiwanis would like to “pop” in for a short while to see if your guests wish to purchase Official Cruise T-shirts. Please arrange this through your Sponsorship Advisor. Additionally, please put your donation canister out for your guests to contribute to this worthy cause!
  • Special Note: Review the sponsorship participation form carefully for additional information.
