Shorewood Kiwanis Club has been awarding scholarships to graduating high school seniors in St. Clair Shores since 1995. Each year, Shorewood honors seniors from all three school districts with awards ranging from $500.00 to $1,000.00. The main requirements are either a Shores resident or attend South Lake, Lakeview, North Lake or Lakeshore High Schools.
The Kiwanis Club of Shorewood chartered a foundation in 1999 to specifically fund the scholarships. It has I.R.S. approval as a 501 (c)(3) and donations are welcomed. Since it’s inception, Shorewood has provided over $150,000.00 in scholarship funds. To paraphrase the Kiwanis motto: “we are helping the youth of the Shores, one scholarship at a time.”
